The Ensemble

The Aeneas Ensemble London was founded in 2018 and has since performed successfully throughout Europe in cities such as Rome, Paris, Venice, Braunschweig, Florence and Bonn. Its members (violinists Sylvia Eisermann and Julia Dräger, violist Benjamin Errington and pianist Panpan Lin) come from different cultural backgrounds, which is also reflected in its programmes. What makes its concerts particularly varied and entertaining is the fact that the ensemble performs in flexible formations, for example as a pure string ensemble or as a violin-piano duo.

Violinist Sylvia Eisermann is a member of the Bavarian State Orchestra (Bavarian State Opera) and has played under the direction of celebrated conductors such as Mehta, Masur, Petrenko, Nagano, and Dudamel. Sylvia is part of the Vuillaume-Trio München, a prizewinning piano trio. As member of this ensemble, she has given numerous concerts in Germany and abroad and has also appeared on radio and television. Born in Munich, she trained at the Musikhochschule in Mannheim and was a student of Wanda Wilkomirska. She graduated with honours and studied further under Lewis Kaplan in New York.

In addition to her work with the Bavarian State Orchestra, Sylvia has been invited to give concerts with other renowned orchestras such as the Münchner Philharmoniker (Munich Philharmonic), the Bamberger Symphoniker, the RTE Orchestra Dublin and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. Away from music, Sylvia graduated in philosophy with a Masters degree from Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich and Trinity College in Dublin.

Violinist Julia Dräger was born in Braunschweig, Germany and gained a music degree at the prestigious Musikhoch-schule Mannheim, followed by studies with Prof. Franciszek Jurys at the Music Academy of Darmstadt. She was an active participant in international masterclasses with Alexander Arenkow, Klara Flieder, Winfried Rademacher and Roman Nodel. Julia has also played in the International Orchestra Academy of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra with the acclaimed conductors Lorin Maazel, Kurt Sanderling and Semyon Bychkov, and the Jeunesses Musicales with Dennis Russell Davies. She is a highly sought-after violin teacher in the London Borough of Richmond, UK.

Violist Benjamin Errington was a finalist in the BBC Young Musicians competition at the age of 18 and went on to graduate with First Class Honours from the Royal Northern College of Music and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. His career has combined classical and Traditional Irish music from a young age when he began participating in major folk festivals and national competitions in the UK on both viola and violin. His professional engagements have included concerto performances in the UK, Ireland and Canada. Benjamin has performed with renowned musicians such as Ralph Kirshbaum, the Navarra Quartet and pianist Ian Brown. He has wide experience as an international freelance orchestral violist in Europe and the UK, and obtained his PhD from Trinity College Dublin in 2024 where he researched Musical aesthetics under the supervision of Professor Jürgen Barkhoff. He recently launched Celtic Viola and Fiddle on YouTube to promote Traditional Irish Music on the viola in original arrangements.

Pianist Panpan Lin began piano lessons at the age of five, receiving training from some of China’s best piano teachers, including Huang Tiandong, Chairman of Guangdong Piano Association. After moving to Dublin, she continued her studies with Roy Holmes. An accomplished soloist and chamber musician, she has performed regularly in concerts, with a particular focus on chamber music and ensemble work. In Ireland she regularly performs in recitals with the singer Eve Garavan.
